Corral for Chrome
Privacy Policy
Corral is a Chrome extension that helps you group, collapse, search, and archive tabs. It runs on your device. We do not collect or sell your personal data, and there is no analytics, advertising, or tracking. The only times data leaves your browser are described below.
Data Corral handles
Corral processes the following data locally in your browser:
- Tab information. Tab titles, URLs, group names, and basic window and tab metadata. Corral uses this to group tabs, search, restore, and archive them.
- Settings and rules. Your grouping rules, collapse settings, and other preferences.
- Archive. Tabs you choose to archive, including their titles, URLs, and group information.
- Usage frequency. A local count of how often groups are used, so Corral can decide which groups to collapse.
- API keys. If you configure AI grouping, the API key for your chosen provider.
This data is stored in Chrome's extension storage on your device. We do not operate a server that receives it.
Chrome Sync
If you enable Chrome sync for extension settings, Chrome may sync your rules and settings through your Google account. Corral does not sync your archive or API keys. Google's handling of synced data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
AI grouping
AI grouping is optional and off until you configure it. If you turn it on and use it, Corral sends the titles and URLs of the tabs being grouped, plus the names of existing groups, to the AI service you chose. It does not send page content, form entries, passwords, or your full browsing history.
Your API key is stored locally, is not synced, and is sent only to the provider you configured. The provider's own privacy policy applies to the data it receives. If you use a local endpoint, the data stays on your machine or local network.
Permissions
- tabs, tabGroups — read tab metadata and manage groups.
- storage, unlimitedStorage — save settings and the archive locally.
- alarms — archive idle tabs on a schedule if you enable that option.
- favicon — show site icons in Corral's lists.
- scripting and access to all sites — display the Ctrl+E tab-search overlay on the page you are viewing. Corral does not collect or transmit the page's content.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data leaves your browser only in these cases:
- You enable Chrome sync, in which case Google syncs your rules and settings.
- You enable AI grouping, in which case the tab titles, URLs, and existing group names described above are sent to the provider you configured.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall Corral. You can delete archived tabs, clear the archive, or remove individual rules and settings in the extension. Uninstalling Corral removes its local extension data. Data synced by Chrome is managed through your Google account.
Your choices
- Leave AI grouping off, or point it at a local model.
- Delete archived tabs or clear the archive at any time.
- Disable Chrome sync for extension settings.
- Uninstall the extension to remove local data.
Children
Corral is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as Corral changes. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
